A good way to start the day

I have been working with one of the biggest electronics stores in Poland for the last 5-6 years. The company is huge, over the years, we did a ton of work from Tech SEO, Content, structure, and many more and we still have a ton to do.

A while back, we also started appearing in AI search, and I created a simple Data Studio report to just track the GA referral traffic coming from AI chats.

Today I woke up to the message from them showing the recent growth we are experiencing in AI search - the traffic from ChatGPT grew by 250% in the last 5 months.

250% growth in traffic from ChatGPT in 6 months

What caused the growth?

To be honest with you, it’s super hard to pinpoint the growth to one thing because the project is huge and we do a lot of things at the same time.

The biggest changes we did in this time were:

  • We fixed server issues that improved crawling and indexation by 150% and the performance of the site

  • We blocked legacy parameters from crawling that were redirected years ago - it removed over 600,000 pages from the Google database

  • We are fixing user-generated reviews of products and adding authors

We still have to work on the full category tree with thousands of categories, create thousands of proper collection page descriptions, and fix dozens of Tech SEO issues that are still open.

My guess is that by fixing server issues we and fixing crawling we sped up the server performance which allowed AI search bots crawl and retrieve more information from the site - especially from the content section.

We can see that the number of citations in AI chats grew by 100% in the last 6 months.

How about the SEO results?

During this time, SEO results were also killing it - both server improvements and the introduction of user reviews made the site grow by close to 30% compared to the previous year.

Steady SEO growth since 2024

This just shows how well Technical SEO is connected with AI search results - fixed crawling and server absolutely exploded not only SEO traffic but also AI search traffic and citations.

Closing

Technical SEO matters for SEO results, for AI search, even for users. It’s becoming bread and butter of not only marketing but how the internet functions in 2026.

The better your site is from a technical standpoint, the better your results and those results will stay with you for years to come.
