Technical SEO Audits are dead

Proper technical SEO audits take weeks or months to make. Then I send them to clients, who need to translate this audit into tasks and manage the entire project on their own.

This entire process requires more resources from the client side, and it is heavy to execute.

It also needs to go through multiple parts of the contact chain - Internal SEO → Marketing manager → CMO → Project Manager → Developer.

It's hard to prioritize things and verify tasks if everything is implemented correctly, because the audit can contain 100 different things to fix.

Also, when you create a 200-page audit, it is easy to miss things - with technical SEO, the more you fix things, the more new things to fix you will start seeing on the site.

That's why we have a different approach to technical SEO projects

A better way to do Technical SEO

Instead of creating a 200-page audit that needs to be digested by the client and transformed into tasks, we join a client project management tool like Jira, Clickup, Trello, or create a space for a technical SEO project.

Just an example dashboard from our deck. I won’t show the internal dashboards of my clients, are you crazy?

We add all people needed for the project - especially developers and we work directly with them on particular tasks.

Every month, we give a set number of missions for the client and start implementing one by one. It helps us better prioritize the work, actually implement things rather than them staying in limbo, and we can easily verify and work on workarounds directly with developers.

We also skip the entire contact chain and work directly with people executing the work. We can also react quicker to any traffic drops or technical bugs that happen. We are literally an additional set of eyes on the project for our clients.

This allows us to go deeper into the projects over time, and we can find things we would never be able to find with just an audit. Sometimes we write literal books of tasks for our clients.

One of the documents with tasks we created for a client (no images) - almost 500 pages

It also allows us to build strong relationships with our clients for years to come. I can call many of my clients friends after this time.

What are the results?

Long term Technical SEO projects bring real long term results. Here are just a couple of examples:

Industrial B2B e-commerce - we grew it from 0 to 25k visits per month

Bookstore e-commerce - 5x growth

Large Electrical e-commerce - 33% growth year over year

We want to write more actual case studies for particular clients and look out for those soon.
